Do You Need to Get Giant Souls Again in Ng

I swore off all wikis and guides for my first time through - I wanted to observe the game on my own - so I'm not yet clear on how this mechanic works. Should I movement on to NG+ at present, or use ascetics? What are the pros and cons here?

When you Practice start NG+ all areas +1, including whatever areas you already hit with an Ascetic. So you could be walking into a +3 or +4 or whatever area because you used the Ascetics for whatever reason. Besides while the PVP is in many means broken as heck and hackers run rampant on PC there are a few covenants that unless you go NG+ on you wont be able to score the PVP encounters you demand to get the rank ups.
Bonfire Ascetics are keen for getting NG+ gear in NG.
Examples:
On NG+, the Skeleton Kings/ Gods/ whatever drib a really good band that increases your casting speed by 55%. In one case you kill them in NG, merely use an Ascetic on the Blaze that's locked in the hut and go kill them over again. It might be a tougher fight (depends how well equipped yous are), but totally worth it to have that band ASAP.
Same goes for the Scorpion Lady boss. She drops a ring in NG+ that increases your attunement slots by 3!

Are the cheaters really bad in NG+? I finished NG about 4 days agone and I'm scared to go to NG+ for that very reason. I don't mind being invaded, I only want it to be a fair fight.

I oasis't gone into NG+ on PC yet myself simply I have heard A LOT of horror stories. One guy in the "found a cheater" thread on this very site said later on dying to a dude he literally dropped to soul level 1 and one in all stats. That'south a character deletion right there.
@lukeweizer: I've been playing Dark Souls 2 on the PC in NG+ for about 24 hours in game now, mostly pvp, and I haven't ran into whatsoever cheaters. On the other hand, the big streamers for the game have encounter quite a number, only they're all in NG right now.
